Fishing boats, as the name implies, are designed specifically to be used for fishing. As such, they tend to have features meant to enhance the fishing experience. Of course, there is always room for improvement, and there are several accessories that you can use to make your fishing trip even more enjoyable. Cooler

A cooler offers an easy, inexpensive way to keep your food and drinks cold while out on the water. For this reason, it is a good thing to have around no matter what kind of activity you plan to do on your boat. If you plan to bring your catches back to shore with you, it is usually best to have a second cooler to store the fish in.

Rod Lockers

Rod lockers provide a safe, secure place to store your fishing rod when not in use. Though they can differ in size, most models have enough room for four or more rods. If you’re tired of your rod rusting in the corner of your garage with the line all tangled up, definitely check out rod lockers.

Depth Finder

This simple but useful device does exactly what the name implies. A depth finder is endlessly helpful, both for helping you avoid running aground and for finding fish that prefer a specific depth.

Rod Holder

Rod holders can help free up your hands while fishing. Though many fishing boats will come with these already installed, you can also install aftermarket rod holders if you want to hold more rods or want a different placement.

Baitwell / Livewell

If you plan to use live bait fish, a baitwell will make keeping them alive and close at hand much easier. A livewell does the same thing for the fish you catch, allowing you to transport them to shore alive. Both livewells and baitwells come in various sizes, though we recommend 1 gallon of water per 1” of fish.

Anchor

A good anchor will keep you from drifting out of position so that you can focus on fishing. It also acts as a safety measure should your engine fail. If your motor goes out, you can just anchor yourself in place so that you don’t drift into rocks or shallow water.
